2 Managing Sampling Rates and Alignement Two issues arise when ﬁrst comparing an audio stream with a visual one: the diﬀerence in sampling rates and the alignement. Concerning sample rates, any easy solution to recover a common sampling rate is to choose for a reference which may be the audio rate or the visual one. In the ﬁrst case, the visual signal must be over sampled. 3). Another problem is alignement. Audio and visual streams may not be synchronised at a particular time due to co-articulation eﬀects and articulator inertia.
