In the case of a star/star-connected transformer with the primary neutral unearthed and with the neutral of the secondary connected to earth, a secondary phase to earth fault may not cause sufficient fault current to flow to cause operation of the protection on account of the high impedance offered to the flow of single-phase currents by this configuration.
